Anticipate can model your sleep in two ways:
With Apple Watch: If allowed, we use sleep data from Apple Health, including sleep stages like REM and Deep sleep when available.
Without a wearable: We model your sleep based on device motion. When you open the app briefly before bed, we start tracking motion for 12 hours.
When your phone becomes still, we detect sleep onset
If you pick up your phone during the night, we detect awakenings
When you turn off your alarm or move in the morning, we mark wake time
Using an Apple Watch provides more detailed sleep data, which we’ll factor in when it’s available. But even without it, we track key signals like bedtime, wake time, and interruptions — enough to shape your mood forecast and help spot emotional patterns.
